The Hummer, powered by a 6.5-litre engine, was pitted against Daniel Villanova's equally big J20 Jeep which was fitted with a 6.6-litre 401 AMC motor.

For the tug-of-war, each vehicle was linked by a chain through the rear tow points, but neither vehicle could budge the other.

Not to be outdone, a stock-standard 1.6-litre Niva, driven by Mark Dearman, went up against the Hummer. In a show of sheer Russian strength (or was it secretly set up beforehand?) the Niva managed to pull the giant Hummer down the hill to the cheers of the crowd!.
