Andrew and Tony have completed reconnance. They had a nice new Evo5 Lancer to do the surveying in. They managed to run each stage, and get the notes fairly correct. Andrew's comments on the stages was

"It is very rough in places, and there are quite a few mud bogs that may catch a few people unawares, if they haven't noted them. Overall we are expecting a good event though".

The car (61) is running very sweetly after its engine rebuild. Due to it being in Brisbane for so long, and Andrew only picking the car up on Wednesday evening, not much has been done to the car unfortunately. When the car returned to the workshops in Caboolture, it was found that 3 out of 4 bolts were missing from the sump guard. So there was a mad panic on Thursday morning to source some more bolts. The run-in oil was changed, with no metal found. It would appear that the rebuild was a success!

The suspension has not been setup and Andrew commented that the car wants to spear off the road as soon as you take your hands off the wheel. The locked diff will not make this situation any better. The service crew will try to remedy this to make the driving that Andrew has to do, a little easier.

The team has a total of 14 tyres for this event, which is a lot less than some of the other teams will use. Some of the front running teams will go through 40-50 tyres for the whole rally. A new ruling has also concerned Andrew and Tony, due to the Special Stage that is being run on tarmac, has to be done with rally tyres on. This will unfortunately, obliterate one set of front tyres, giving Lada Racing one set less to work with.

The team head to Calloundra for the big start this evening. Be there to cheer Team Lada Racing on! The cars then get locked away in Parc Ferme, until the morning, when the teams will head to Imbil for the first stage of the day.

Andrew is rushing to get the car ready for scrutineering, After having just gone through a major engine rebuild; the team is behind the eight ball. Andrew was not sure if he would be able to get to do reconnance over the first stage this afternoon. The first stage that the crews do reconnance on is Pelican Waters, which will be run on Sunday. The crews will then head out into the forest to complete reconnance tomorrow.

Each crew gets the chance to drive each stage three times; to complete their pace notes accurately. LadaRacing will probably have to hire a car to complete reconnance due to the quick sale of their reconnance car. More updates as the news comes to hand. . . . .

The entry list for Rally Queensland has been released. The Lada Racing entry of Andrew Gee and Anthony Arbon have been seeded at 61. The Suzuki Swift GTi, piloted by Nick Creswell and Mick Bruce, seeded at 54 is the man to beat. Andrew will be pushing hard, trying to help Nick Creswell make an error, and take the lead.

Lada Racing has been placed 2nd in clas PRC1. Andrew will be having a friendly fight with Ferris Lee and Cameron Campbell-Brown in the little Honda Civic. Car 70, the Suzuki Swift GTi, of Matthew Van Tuinen with Peter Baker in the silly seat, has never been seen before, and is an unknown quantity. Andrew will be watching their times with eagle eyes to see how they do.
